- During the BBC4 TV broadcast of the Prom on 19 July, the
celebrity interval interviewee, actor Martin Freeman (star of the recent
Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy movie), was asked about his involvement
with classical music. He said that he had only been to one Prom before, ten
years ago. The interviewer then asked why he had come to this concert and he
said the draw had been the Vaughan Williams London Symphony. When asked
how he had discovered Vaughan Williams he said that he had wandered into St
Albans Cathedral one afternoon and heard a 'beautiful choir' rehearsing the
Vaughan Williams Sea Symphony, and his interest had started from there.
